Project EVA - News Updates
March 2008:
Refurbishment is progressing well on the old 'Morgan Group
Technologies' Building with completion scheduled for the middle of
May. With the internal remodelling complete the electrical and
mechanical services are underway. In the main factory building
infrastructure work and equipment moves continue to take place.
The service trench has been created and the new electrical, water
and communication supplies are due to be installed during April.
January 2008:
The principal contractor has been appointed for the MGT building and refurbishment work has commenced. This work will be completed in phases to allow the efficient transfer of some operations into the building. Contracts have been placed for the new electrical, water and communications services which will be needed to support the changes. Movement of manufacturing equipment has already started in some areas.
December 2007:
The Christmas break allows the opportunity for preparatory engineering work to be done prior to the phased movement of manufacturing equipment during the first half of 2008. The work goes smoothly and on time including the preparation for the separation of utilities at our new boundary.
October 2007:
News is received that The Government Office of the West Midlands does not call in the application and the permission is granted. Customers are informed of the plans to modernise the Stourport site and a communications plan to keep all parties informed is implemented.
August 2007:
Wyre Forest District Council planning committee consider the plans and give provisional approval, subject to the Government Office of the West Midlands.
May 2007:
Following a significant planning phase involving architects, planning consultants, environmental analysis, local consultation and a variety of other disciplines, we made our formal planning submissions to
WFDC.
March 2007:
A significant pre-planning public consultation event takes place at the Stourport site with support from our local MP, Dr Richard Taylor. All immediate neighbours were invited to view the proposed plans for the site restructuring. Around 130 people attend and provided useful feedback & suggestions to improve the scheme.
February 2007:
Formal approval was sought and granted by MTC & The Morgan Crucible Company plc to allow funding and resource to be applied to Project EVA.
September 2006:
Following some concept planning, we had our first meeting with representatives of the Wyre Forest District Council
(WFDC) to discuss the details of the plan and potential timing. It was clear at this point that the project was complex with a large number of issues to be clarified.
June 2006:
The initial conceptual ideas for the project were defined and then discussed within Morgan Technical Ceramics (MTC) management. It was clearly shown that completion of this project would benefit the business and the local community. A formal planning phase was initiated.
